ALPINE, Texas, Feb. 8 -- Sul Ross State University issued the following news release:
Sul Ross State University's Graduate Student Center will host an open house Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2-4 p.m. The Graduate Center is located in Briscoe Administration Building, Room 104.
Staff members will answer questions about Center facilities and services and discuss Title V Postbaccalaureate grant activities. The Graduate Student Center, which also houses the office of Graduate Admissions, is funded in full by a Title V grant from the U.
S. Department of Education.
In addition to providing a location for graduate students to study and work, the Center is also developing pro-active graduate student services, including orientation, mentoring and workshops/direct assistance in financial literacy, academic research, writing, thesis preparation, preparing external funding requests, and career/educational planning.
The Center is equipped with desktop and laptop PCs, wireless Internet, a conference room for group study or meetings, a projector and screen for student presentation rehearsals and workshops, and a networked Xerox Phaser 8860 for graduate student printing, copying and scanning. A satellite phone and personal locator beacon is available for check-out to students doing field work in remote locations.
Graduate Center staff are on hand Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. A computer lab and study areas, manned by graduate Student Fellowship recipients, are open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
